I wrote about Auto Layout on OS X:

Over the years, AppKit has been improved and extended in many ways. In OS X Lion, Apple introduced Auto Layout, providing a more flexible and powerful way to position elements on screen.

Unfortunately, as it regularly happens on OS X, the need for maintaining backwards compatibility has lead to important differences and unexpected behaviour in the exact same API when compared to iOS.
